Ramana Gogula is arguably India's finest reggae musician. His songs and his background score for movies with their reggae influenced beats have contributed to many a hit down South. When he is not in his studio late at night, he is focussed on building 'Learning Enhancing Technologies' at Liqwid Krystal that he co-founded with Anand Adkoli in 1999.Gogula and his team are now all excited for the company has very recently tied up with Coimbatore's Karunya Institute of Technology and Science to make available Le Galerie, a digital knowledge space that could revolutionise learning.Knowledge is power and our aim in creating Le Galerie was to make learning effortless,'' says Gogula.Gogula's team has patented a technology called CodeSaw whose core architecture enables students to access a range of programming languages across the Internet with absolutely no requirements to install relevant development environments.
Fifty popular titles from Addison Wesley have been incorporated with Codesaw to enhance the reading experience of the students. All they have to do is download a browser helper application and view the working of a programming concept. In essence it becomes a virtual computer laboratory, for the students also get to work with Le Galerie which right now consists of a consortium of 20 companies that offer students real-time projects. In short, students will be studying in an experimental digital playground that integrates the industry practices into college curriculum.Gogula is naturally elated for Karunya will help channel Le Galerie to colleges across Tamil Nadu.I'm waiting for the day when 300,000 engineering students across India will have access to Le Galerie. Students will have to pass a Liqwid Krystal Index test to be eligible for corporate collaboration and I envisage a scenario where many will. So by the time they complete their studies, they would have already worked on software and hardware projects with some of the biggest IT companies in the country,'' he says.allenmendonca1@indiatimes.com
